Two Sisters One Big Family
After being in the nursing home, elder care field for over twenty years, Christine T.D. Ellis, RN saw the vision for a uniquely different senior care environment.
“For years, I saw families bring their mothers, fathers and loved ones into large nursing homes and feel guilty or suspect of the mass-care approach. What these families longed for was a home away from home, focused on compassion, on relationship, and not just a place to sit, eat and sleep…”
Joined by her sister, Shella Michel, BSA, they joined forces to make this vision a reality.
We want to keep our residents minds alert and healthy, so we focus on various activities dedicated to maintaining the highest level of wellbeing.
Every resident is provided activities appropriate for their skill level to ensure they stay active.
Fifteeen years later, The Cedar Sanctuary has ten beautiful homes including 2 BH3 homes in popular Chandler, Gilbert, and Scottsdale subdivisions conveniently located near major freeways. Shella says, The growth of our business is a direct result of our belief in caring for your loved one like family.

Our difference is our belief in personal, individual attention based on a relationship of trust and genuine care. With many team members being long-time Cedar Gardens employees, we are faithful to our promise of care beyond compare.
Professional Certifications:
Each member of our staff is a licensed, certified care giver and our managers are state certified, required to be licensed care givers and have an additional 72 hours or more of experience in elder care in order to manage the home.
